The weekend schedule

VANCOUVER — A long weekend of family events and festivals will keep residents busy — and traffic clogged — in the West End, north False Creek and in Kitsilano.

Traffic delays and road closures should be expected at the locations below:

Friday, July 31

Georgia and Hornby: The Critical Mass Bike Ride departs from the Vancouver Art Gallery lawn at Georgia and Hornby late Friday afternoon. Expect traffic delays across the downtown core.

Davie and Burrard: The Vancouver Pride Society Street Party will close down Davie Street, from Burrard to Denman from 6 p.m. Friday (July 31) to Saturday (Aug. 1) at 5:00 a.m.

Pacific Boulevard: The Police & Fire Games will be using Pacific Blvd from Nelson to Quebec from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for its "Parade of Athletes"

Saturday, Aug. 1

Kits Point and the West End: Kits Point (north of Cornwall), will be closed to traffice from 6:30 p.m., and the West End from 7:30 p.m., for the HSBC Celebration of Light finale.

Sunday, Aug. 2

Downtown core/West End: Thurlow, Robson, Denman and Beach Avenue will be closed for the Vancouver Pride Parade. Closures begin at 9:00 a.m. and the roads are expected to re-open by 3:00 p.m. The parade starts at noon at Robson and Bute, travels west on Robson, south on Denman and along Beach Ave. to Jervis Street.
