Victoria Real Estate
I was on Vancouver Island this past weekend visiting my wife's parents and was very impressed with some of their condo developments there. We all know that Victoria is the second most expensive city in Canada to live in (behind Vancouver of course) but there is also a lot happening on that side of the water. From their beautiful scenery to their stunning architecture and flourishing arts culture Victoria has really come into its own. Two condo developments I was especially impressed with were Juliet at Johnson and Blanchard, and the Hudson on Douglas Street.
Juliet is a 14 storey tower on the Corner of Johnson and Blanchard on the old Romeo's Pizza site. Developed by Chard Development Ltd. this tower is expected to complete spring of 2008. Starting at 452 square feet and ranging to the 1401 square foot penthouse Juliet has been designed for young, urban buyers. The building will feature environmentally-friendly construction materials and practices and a car-share program, bike storage, and repair facility reinforce the building's eco-friendly appeal. There will be a rooftop patio which will feature a hot tub, an outdoor barbeque kitchen, a telescope and a private outdoor movie theatre. The homes themselves feature European Inspired Kitchens, Engineered Hardwood Floors and Ceramic Back Splashes in the kitchen. Prices start at only $259,900. www.julietliving.com
The Hudson is a 537 unit development in the stunning heritage building the Hudson Bay Company once occupied in the 1700 block of Douglas Street. This $220-Million Dollar project features homes ranging from 550-1300 square feet. Where the current parkade stands will be converted into a spectacularly landscaped courtyard. The original building (phase 1) will be kept in tact due to its heritage designation, with towers to be added behind at a later date. Phase one will feature three colour schemes, loft-style ceilings (10-17 feet high), engineered oak hardwood floors and radiant in floor heating. With it's proximity to shopping and business the Hudson should become a popular landmark for Victoria Condos. www.hudsonliving.ca
