Victoria, Vancouver Island Condo Development; The Johnson
VICTORIA - Does Dave Chard have a crystal ball? Some Victorians, including the Downtown Victoria Business Association's Ken Kelly think so. Chard's latest condo development, The 834, on Johnson is 90 per cent sold. 12 of the 115 units are on the market -- most of them the top floor penthouses.
It's impressive in a soft condo market. According to the Greater Victoria Real Estate Board, the price people were willing to pay for condos dropped by more than $20,000 between April and May of this year.
Chard says the price point of The 834 helped sell it even though it will be another four months before it can be occupied.
Chard also broke ground on The Sovereign -- a high end condo development at 608 Broughton. It will be finished in 2013 and it's already 45 per cent sold.
